In my last journal I made mention of the side effects of being around a consistent supply of beautiful art and wonderful artists. Apart from being inspired by these great artworks and their marvelous creators, another advantage is that you come to realize that the problems you are facing in your own artistic endeavors (such as artist block!!) are or were also shared at some point or another by all the people you admire. And more importantly, they have found the solution to these problems. Sure, there are different ways to approach our art-problems, but those who have experienced them and found their own methods of solving these nightmares (and who have also gained wisdom throught this process) are always willing to offer advice and be a light in the dark to those of us who are less experienced and finding it hard to escape the Dark Forest (so to speak).
On this topic one of my all-time-favourite artists and greatest inspirations, , have written two great pieces titled “Abandoning Preciousness” and “Sipping tea with your Muse”. In my opinion, her inspirational words of wisdom are a must-read for both aspiring artists and professionals. So why don’t you pay her DeviantArt-page a visit, and read for yourself.
Secondly, thank you so much to everyone who contributed to my donation-pool! You are all wonderful and I am now able to give something back to this great community. First donations has gone to the Deviant group Day-dreamers Realm.
More donations to follow.
Also, as promised, I am slowly updating my gallery with new art, mostly artist trading cards at the moment, but some of my larger paintings will follow soon...maybe I'll even try putting some up as prints..we'll see..
And lastly, I have changed my DeviantID. I am now known as 'Cricket' pretty much on all art sites I support, something for which I am very grateful as it become a bit confusing to remember which login-name goes with which site!!
Anyway, I hope you all have a brilliant day!
All the best,
